Town House, Collicello di Amelia, Terni, Umbria
This treasure of a house and tower, in part dating back as far as the 15th century, is built on the defensive wall of a medieval village of about 125 people. It is located in southern Umbria on the outskirts of Amelia. Completely and meticulously restored by its present owner in 1992, it offers the neighborly closeness of a village and yet the privacy of a country house.

Evidences of ancient gun emplacements, restored as niches on each level of the tower, preserve ancient features of this ancient stone fortress, as do the high ceilings and centuries old beams, as well as the working cistern, which can be accessed on two floors. Views of the surrounding countryside and the terraced garden from many rooms provide sunlight from its many windows.

The house consists of 255 sq. meters of living space, plus a manger to store firewood, former horse stable, garage, and cantina. On the ground floor are: a sitting room, dining room, master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, kitchen with fireplace, pantry/utility room and a half bathroom. The kitchen opens onto a wonderful courtyard and off the courtyard is the old manger which is now used to store firewood.

Entered through the former stable, the garden features two terraces, numerous established antique roses and fruit trees.

The tower contains a spacious spiral staircase leading down to the former horse stable and garden and up to the upper living floor. The upper floor has two bedrooms and 1 bathroom, a beautiful large library/study and a sitting room with views of the valley. This floor could be easily converted to a separate flat by adding a small kitchen in a room that is now a large closet. The tower has another room, a dovecote, accessed by a ladder, at the very top with a beautiful rose window and an access door to the roof.

The former horse stable leads to a single car garage and the garden which is about 2,000 sq. meters. In the terraced garden are some old well established roses, fruit trees: walnut, apricot, fig, apple, pear, hazelnut and olive; as well as several old oaks.

The house is about 10 km. from the center of Amelia. Amelia is about 1 hour North of Rome.
